Our Story

From a Bolton living room to a recognised centre of learning

From humble beginnings in the front room of a Bolton home, Al-Huda Academy has — by the grace of Allah Ta'ala — grown into a recognised centre of Islamic learning. Established in October 2005 under the patronage of Hadhrat Mawlana Muhammad Saleem Dhorat, the Academy's first base was a small terraced house.

Alhamdulillah, through the fadhl of Allah Ta'ala, the Academy purchased the former Halliwell Labour Club in 2008, enabling it to broaden its educational and community activities.

As part of our expansion, in 2013 the Academy acquired the former Lillian Hamer House on Deane Road — establishing the UK's first over-16s Darul-Uloom with full boarding.

Mission Statement

We as a Muslim community in the West are living in a challenging time. While all sections of the Muslim community face tests in staying on the ‘straight path’, our youth in particular are finding it increasingly difficult to connect with their parents, elders, and in some cases, their Deen.

It is sadly becoming more common to see young lives spiralling into harmful and impermissible activities, such as drugs and alcohol, without a sense of control or fulfilment. In this context, Al-Huda (The Guidance) Academy was established in October 2005, under the patronage of Hadhrat Mawlana Muhammed Saleem Dhorat (حَافِظَهَا اللّٰهُ), to revive the Deen and foster a deeper understanding of Islam, particularly among the youth.

To educate Muslims from all walks of life in their spiritual and religious development.

To deepen understanding of Islam and address misconceptions about the faith.

To equip present and future generations to preserve and perfect Islam in their daily lives.

Nurturing Faith, Knowledge & Community

From humble beginnings in the front room of a Bolton home, Al-Huda Academy has by the grace of Allah Taa’la, grown into a recognised centre of Islamic learning. Established in 2005, the Academy moved from a small terraced house to the Former Halliwell Labour Club in 2008, enabling it to broaden its educational and community activities.

In 2013, with the infinite mercy of Allah Taa’la, the Academy purchased the former Lillian Hamer House on Deane Road, establishing the UK’s first over-16s Darul-Uloom with full boarding. Today, the Academy offers a wide range of programmes for Muslims of all ages, continuing its mission to serve the community and promote the values of Islam.

Voices from our community

Words from those whose lives have been touched

Stories shared by students, parents and members of the wider community who walk this journey with us.

Al-Huda has been a foundation not just for my Islamic studies, but for who I am as a Muslim. The teachers, the environment, the duas — there's barakah in every corner.

Yusuf A. Alimiyyah graduate · 2022

My daughter joined the sisters' Hifz programme and the change in her — masha'Allah, in confidence, character and connection to the Qur'an — has been incredible.

Aisha M. Parent, Bolton

I used to feel disconnected from my Deen after university. The weekly Tafseer sessions brought me back home, gently and with deep insight. May Allah reward the team.
